Little Hutt is run by Christina Gillmore, a resident of Hutt City. Her and her family have lived in Lower Hutt for nearly five years. Originally from Canada, Christina has lived in the Wellington Region for thirteen years, and is now a ‘Can-Kiwi’; she holds dual citizenship.
Christina says, ‘There’s a lot of soul and history in the Hutt, and that’s why I chose to start this publication. I wanted to help capture the diverse mix of people and stories of our City. I love this place, and it’s the people who make it.’
Christina has a masters of management (marketing) plus more degrees (but it sounds a little stuffy, so find her on LinkedIn). She has several years of experience working in communications, marketing, and the corporate world.
‘I’m very interested in the humanities, and using a narrative writing style. My background in social anthropology and psychology helps me take a backseat approach; listen and digest the stories I have the honour to hear.’
My role is purely to translate the stories to ink as if the readers were telling the story themselves – to preserve the raw beauty in what they say.’
Christina also owns Narrate, a business focused solely on capturing peoples’ stories, their legacies.
Sharing Hutt residents’ stories is something she’s looking for support in. If you enjoy writing, or have ideas for stories, contact Christina.
